After several false starts and delays we're so happy to be writing this update from Kenya. Originally we were supposed to move in August but due to the pandemic this was delayed to November. We were all set to fly out on Friday 6th November but after spending the morning at Heathrow waiting and praying for our fourth Coronavirus test result, it didn't arrive so we were unable to check in. We headed back to Sean's parents, got some new tests done and after the longest goodbye we finally flew out to Kenya on Tuesday 10th November.

We have spent the last week or so unpacking, sorting and organising our new home and getting to know the area. We're living in a town called Kijabe, about an hour or so outside of Nairobi. Kijabe is about 7200ft above sea level, a little more than twice the height of Snowden so going up the stairs or walking to the shop feels like you've run a marathon. We are in the process of purchasing a vehicle and are so grateful for those of you that helped to make that possible. We are looking forward to getting that sorted so that we can have a bit more independence and freedom.

Last week we went down to Cornerstone, the school that is a part of Naomi's Village, to take part in a Facebook Live which you can watch by clicking here. If you have not seen it already it gives a great overview of the ministry we are a part of. We have also been down to Naomi's Village (NV) and Cornerstone Preparatory Academy (CPA) for some introductory meetings. We had an incredible welcome which included being fed chocolate cake. Obviously a winner! We can't wait to get to know everyone more and are excited about what the future has in store.

Potted Plants

It has been an eventful few weeks and we are so relieved and excited to be here but there have certainly been some challenges and some days have been better than others... Someone said to us that moving cross culturally is like a potted plant being uprooted from its pot. It can be quite a messy process! Before the plant is re-potted and reestablishes its roots to grow and thrive it is lifted mid- air, dangling without a pot. The plant has left its old pot behind but not yet established its roots in a new pot. That is very much how we feel at the moment. We know that in time we will settle and adjust and get used to everything but right now our roots are dangling! We look forward to being potted here in Kijabe.
