July saw the arrival of a new addition at Naomi's Village children's home. 4 month old Lucy Sifa was welcomed home earlier this month with open arms from her great big family. She has been here for about two weeks now and the love and adoration continues to grow. There is a well known African proverb that says, "It takes a village to raise a child," and we certainly know that is true. It has been a privilege to watch her, and many other precious lives grow through the love and support of those here in Kenya and the village of supporters worldwide. As you might already know we were very much looking forward to spending the summer in the UK, particularly for family and friends to meet Anna but also because the last few months have been rather taxing on all fronts and we are fatigued; emotionally, mentally and spiritually. But when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade; so when the boys finished school we headed to the Kenyan coast for a week. The Kenyan coast is absolutely stunning. It was a timely reminder of the beauty of Kenya and we had a wonderful time together. While we were at the coast we realised that while we can’t go to the UK for the summer, we still very much need a break. With everything that has happened in ministry over the last few months, the car accident and changes at home we are feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. A few people have mentioned burnout and although we don't want to put a label on anything, what we do know is that we need a break. So with the boys off and as we adjust to having Anna, we decided that it was important for us to have some quality time as a family over the summer. We also acknowledge that we are still relatively new to living in Kenya and full time ministry so to a certain degree there is still some culture shock and adjustment and having some time off will help to process that.

One thing that we are excited about and looking forward to is that we have several family members coming out next month and a few more visitors in September as well. So If you're reading this then this is your invitation to get your flights booked!

As always, thank you for standing with us and partnering with us as we educate, equip and empower the next generation of Kenyan leaders. We love you and couldn't do it without you.
